Lourdes Heuer is the author of more than a dozen children's books, including board books, picture books, and chapter books. She is also a poet, translator, and college professor. She is the author of two early chapter book series, the Esme! books, featuring art by #1 New York Times Bestselling illustrator Marissa Valdez, and Seashell Key, as well as the bilingual board book series Teeny Tiendas. Lourdes currently resides in South Florida. She is represented by Kelly Sonnack.

Lourdes Heuer is the author of more than a dozen children's books, including board books, picture books, and chapter books. She is also a poet, translator, and college professor. Her debut picture book On this Airplane, illustrated by Pura Belpré Award Honoree Sara Palacios, was selected in 2023 for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and was named a Bank Street College Best Children's Book of the Year and a Cooperative Children's Book Center Choice Book. Both books in the Esme! early chapter book series, Esme's Birthday Conga Line and Troop Esme, with art by #1 New York Times Bestselling illustrator Marissa Valdez, were named as Best Books for Younger Readers by the Chicago Public Library, as was Seashell Key

The daughter of Cuban exiles, Lourdes was born in Spain but immigrated to the United States when she was 8. She lives in South Florida with her husband, son, and many dogs.

She holds an MFA in Writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and is an Associate Professor of English at Broward College. 

She is represented by Kelly Sonnack.
